  • some of the japanese and english elona communities¬†are now connected via discord, and some wonderful people have decided they want to translate some mod of the omake_overhaul mod variants.

    while nothing in particular has been published yet for general use, the atmosphere is promising.

    for the wikia, this might mean better organization will be more on the mind, as having elona+, elona vanilla, and omake_overhaul_modify_sukutsu_edition or whatever will be haphazardous to navigate.

    fortunately, priliminary impression is that only a minority of elona+'s modified content co-incides with OOM's

    while discord has been a great medium for communicating, it is difficult to keep information saved and accessible for long. I hope to be able to continue to share and store the spoils onto the wikia.

    if anyone feels like joining to help the translation, chat, or just hang out, there's a link to the discord on the front-page of the wikia.

    i wonder how difficult it would be to make a generic/standalone version of Custom to be able to run on a arbitrary elona version, like elona extender.. or otherwise adapt it to work with other mods of elona

    speaking of mods, as i understand it from the japanese folks, elona+ may be unlicensed, as all the other mods don't release the elona executable, they release patch-like programs. only elona+ releases the whole thing.

      I've been thinking about this since Elin got on the horizon, and looks like it's getting ever more timely. Thanks for the update! Currently looking at how other wikias are handling multiple games/versions in the same universe (e.g. Zelda). Hopefully some of those solutions would work here as well.

    • Yeah, hopefully.

      I looked at Civilization's wikia first, since the new versions fairly similar as the preceding versions. virtually everything was seperated into _(gameversion) , ends up in a lot of repeated data, but each version got a complete and exclusive page/network, kinda like a 6 in 1 wikia i guess.

      but they also have a playerbase/editor base probably a few magnitudes greater than ours so it may be a bit more practical.

    • Once we got a template or a basic on how we want to do it, it shouldnt be too hard to correctly spread out the data, repeat infomation shouldnt be to much of a overal problem;

      and we probally should stop adding notetags when something was added to elona+, or at least if that practics keeps going, attempt to do something like the main wikipedia pages. refense links to the changelog page

    • small update

      the readme translation for omake has been completed. i've taken the liberty to amend it to the Omake page

      [elona_omakeENG_readme.txt ]

      this is ONLY for the omake version, NOT omake overhaul or any other derivatives. focus has now moved to omake overhaul changelog, in game strings themselves, and auxillary texts (i.e., the readmes for custom npcs, custom items)

      I'm not really sure if i could/should make a post on any of the forums, but it is an open undertaking so if anyone wants to poke their head in or whatever they're welcome to [join in the embassy channel]
