I don't know where to post about this but when I try to dominate a monster in the Void I get told that "The effect doesn't work in this area." I never noticed this before can someone please explain this. Thanks.

From what I remember, you couldn't dominate void monsters even in most of the more recent versions of normal Elona. Dominating higher level monsters was mostly done using Panic quests, although someone would have to remind me if this still works in more recent versions of Plus.
It does not.
Yeah, it's been like that for a long time - one of the reasons I held off on updating to the version that did this.
There is a way to use Dominate anywhere, however. Just did it yesterday in E+1.45 with Cheat Engine (but EloSnack works as well):
Adjust the "current map" value from 42 (Void) to one that permits domination (e.g. Wilderness, 2). It's located in offset 80 in gdata.s1, and it's fairly easy to find with Cheat Engine as well.
For a comprehensive list of area values, hit F12 in Elona, then type test
in the window that comes up. When finished, hit Esc to return to the game screen.
It doesn't, at least not in 1.45~
That has not worked in a few verisons, i think the only way left to get a high level pet now is by using aliens

I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet, but as of Elona plus 1.58, it seems that changing the current map value doesn't work, instead it shows a "Map loading failed" message, and moves the PC home.
