Taxes

From Elona Wiki

Each month you have to pay taxes. The amount of tax you have to pay is divided in three main groups. The amount of salary you must pay to your hirelings (Labour), the amount of maintenance for all the buildings you constructed with Deeds (Maint.), and a general 'adventurers' tax (tax).

The amount of taxation can be reduced by having the appropriate Feats. (Apprentice Accountant (7%) and Expert Accountant (15%)).

[edit] Paying Taxes

Taxes are paid at The Embassy's tax box (that can be found two fields north of the fountain) with tax bills. These bills start to appear in your salary chest once you hit level 6.

[edit] Tax Calculation

[edit] Labour Tax

Each hireling has a initial hiring cost and a recurring pay. The pay is the increase in taxes you pay each month. For example, a maid costs 1600 initially and has a recurring salary of 60. Both are not reduced by Negotiation.

Here is a small example list of possible hirelings.

Name Level Initial Cost Wages (in gp/month)
Shopkeeper lvl 35 7800 390
Informer lvl 20 5000 250
Healer lvl 20 10000 500
Wizard lvl 5 7800 390
Maid lvl 1 1600 80

As you can see, wages seems to be related to initial cost. Each 20 gp of initial costs increases the wages by 1 gp.

[edit] Maintenance Tax

Maintenance tax is determined by the Deeds placed on the worldmap. The blessed cursed status of a deed does not seem to influence the amount of tax paid in version 1.13.

[edit] 'Adventurers' Tax

This tax is determined by the following factors.

  • Each level increases the tax by 200.
  • For every 1000 gp you carry, the tax is increased by 1.
  • For every point of Fame you have, you get a tax of 1 gp.

[edit] Karma(tax reduction)

A high positive Karma reduces the amount of taxes you have to pay. 5 karma gives a 2% discount, 10 a 5% and 20 a 15% discount. But a negative Karma does not increase taxes.

[edit] Losing your tax bill

If you ever lose the tax bill, you can buy a new one using Small Medals. Be careful as pets pick up the bills (at least in 1.13).

Also note that if you put it down to rearrange your items in your shop, someone may actually BUY it! Unfortunately the amount of money gotten seems completely random, and hasn't exceeded 15% of the original bill, in my experience. Is there an algorithm for this or is it just pure chance?--172.131.109.163 03:59, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
