A skeleton key (white key when unidentified) is used in conjunction with a lockpick when lock picking. It indirectly increases your chances of successfully picking a lock, according to the formula below:

\text{Lock Picking with Skeleton Key} = { \frac {\text{Lock Picking} * 150}{100} +5}

This higher "Lock Picking with Skeleton Key" value is then used in lock picking calculations.
