Silver bells (Platina bells in Elona+) are hostile NPCs that have a very high speed and high damage resistance. They have an innate ability to float and innate resistance bonuses against physical and elemental attacks. Riding them incurs the riding penalty due to their small stature.

They won't be an actual threat to your party, as they don't have any equipment on them, and their only attack is unarmed combat. Unlike gold bells, silver bells have superb resistance to magic. Use any other spell, such as nerve arrow, etc.

They can Vanish at will; however, they aren't particularly resistant to status effects, so attempts to paralyze them through Nerve Arrow or potions of paralyzing will likely work. Anything that will cause silence will not work, because disappearing is a special action. Poison also works wonderfully against them; since poison damage is dealt out for every turn they take, their high speed does nothing to save them from it.

Having them as pets on the other hand, is a totally different story. Equip them with a ranged weapon and you have one near-invincible monster that fires at a rate of ~8 attacks per every one turn you pass. A strongly recommended pet. Because of how range modifiers work, it's ideal to equip them with laser guns to avoid any damage penalties since laser gun's don't drop in damage no matter how close or how far enemies are from the bell and due to how vision and AI limitations work. You can also go with machine guns because they have bonuses to accuracy and help activate Eye of Mind more often. Keep in mind both gold bell and Silver bell only have 1 life and will need either Rubynus gear, Hero Cheese, and/or The Oblivion Palace in Act 2 to reset their stats so they can obtain AP to gain life if you decide to keep using bells going into late game.

Killing them the usual way yields a platinum coin or two, and occasionally a small medal as well.

Changes in Elona+[]

They are easier to distinguish from other monsters due to a glowing effect added to them (similar to that of gems and special artifacts).

Throwing a inventory item using (T) that doesn't have a special throw effect will bypass their defense, likely instantly killing them.
