Detection

Detection is a perception based skill the improves your chances of finding hidden passages and traps when searching. In a dungeon level that has narrow corridors connecting rooms, most dead ends are secret passages.

A character without the Detection skill may still search, but it will take a lot longer to get a result.

In Elona+, Detection is actually a good skill, because of changes made to how you collect items, every type of gathering spot has an associated skill that increases the chance of successfully gathering there, so if you don't have the necessary skill, you'll notice that you won't be able to gather things when you start doing higher level dungeons. That's why you should take detection so that you can always gather ingredients.

In version 1.37, pets who have the detection skill and an impression > 100 can help collect materials after defeating enemies. You can interact with them and choose Talk->Receive Materials to get the materials they have collected.
